Emacs always seems to come up in Fortran mode when the file extent is "f" or "for". I don't like some of the features of the GNU fortran mode and would prefer that the editor come up in text mode. Could someone offer a suggestion as to how to prevent GNU emacs from automatically entering Fortran mode. (I usually type "text" to enter text mode, but I would like to avoid always having to do this.) Thanks to all who reply. Regards, Ric Steinberger steinberger@kl.sri.com Please reply directly to me if possible, as I don't often get the chance to follow comp.emacs.
