I am the principal designer of OUR protocol, but have not made any solid code as of yet. Version 1.0 of the BBS which we are working on will hopefully be out by the end of summer (i.e. August) on the Amiga system. After 1.0 is solid, 2.0 will supply a graphics protocol. As I have just recently heard that comp.graphics was talking about a protocol, I just joined the group. I dont know how many amiga users there are in this group, but there is a program called dnet from Matt Dillon on the amiga which had a packet protocol that would make a GREAT start to the graphics protocol. It allows you to be on unix and have multiple windows open and it multiplexes the data between them. This is the hard part as far as I'm concerned. Adding packets which say 'here is a menu...you implement it locally' is no big deal. He uses a windowed packet system that seems quite nice. He also supplies sources with the binaries...unix and amiga both. I dont know if Matt would have any objection to the graphics protocol being based off of dnet, but a standard is needed soon...and I just hope that a BUNCH dont hit the market all at the same time which would defeat the purpose. I would like to work together and come up with a 'kinder gentler computer graphics interface...' :-) Well, now that I've long-winded myself and flogged you all with my speech, I'll be moving on... bob -- -=-=-=- Insert Standard Disclaimer Here, Please... -=-=-=- /************* MS-Dos?
