Some time ago, I was pointed to this newsgroup as a source of
information about machine-readable topographic maps.

Specifically, I'm interested in getting large-scale (planetary)
elevations into an IBM-PC or Macintosh. I'm also interested
in smaller-scale (USGS, for example) data.

Can anyone suggest sources for this kind of data?
