Please do NOT reply to all of the CC lists. RFC 987 is a specification to map between RFC 822 based protocols and X.400 (1984). I have just completed the first draft of the version to map to X.400 (1988) - a quite substantial update. For now, I am calling this RFC 987(88). I hope that this specification can gain wide acceptance, following input from all interested parties. I propose to use the ifip-gtwy list to discuss this specification. I will be circulating the specification by mail in two weeks time (April 11th) - experience has suggested that there are too many interested parties without file transfer access. This should give interested people sufficient time to get onto the list. Send to ifip-gtwy-request@tis.llnl.gov. For UK people send to arpa-mhs-request@uk.ac.ucl.cs. I suggest that other Europeans should get national expansions. People should also get themselves copies of X.400 (88) - at least the DIS. I'm sure that "how to get the standard" will be discussed on ifip-gtwy. I am proposing to hold a meeting on 27-28 June in London to finalise this specification following electronic discussion. Put this date in your diaries! If there is sufficient request, it may be useful to also hold a one day meeting sometime in early May. Steve
