Reasons Apple IIGS's should be sold at college! + most freshmen who have used computers used Apples in High School + Price, I don't have $1500 to spend on a basic system + COLOR, yes color is important for computer use and graphics especially for engr. applications, etc. + NON-Windowing interface is available. Windowing is good for some things, but text is A LOT faster when speed is important (as it is in college) + Software, YES software! AWGS is the BEST combination package for any computer on todays market. Give campus connectivity and the availability of Laserwriters a GS will allow you to write a resume, lay out a newspaper, do an english paper, plot your fluid flow analysis, etc. + Programability, the GS's built-in EVENT loop makes tool box programming easier. Applesoft will blow away the Mac for quick and dirty programs your calculator won't do. I'm sure some college students like myself can add to the list. What I want in a GS is Multi-tasking (given a faster CPU) and UNIX. Those who snoff at multi-tasking haven't used it to the fullest, although dependent on CPU speed it is great for stuff that takes a long time (ie disk I/O and Communications). It would also be nice to see GCC and other Pd UNIX applications ported to the GS like TCP/IP was on the Mac.
