I would like to know what are the "issues" (hardware & software) which determine whether or not a particular brand of machine (read PC) will work on a net using PCSA-DEC ETHERNET and Wide Area DECNET (with DOS PC's and some different models of Vaxen). Our systems people are trying to force us to buy one manufacturer's machines (Compaq), probably because they can get them to work (on the LAN) without much hassle. Is this an issue of compatibility of equipment or competency of people? -- Jim Hood { uunet!attcan att pyramid!utai utzoo } !lsuc!forgen!jim
