I strongly second this inquiry. I would like to buy a workstation with a DEC MIPS processor and the NeXt I/O handling. I don't understand why I should be satisfied with NeXt's flp power of 1/5 of DEC's, or a DEC peripheral of 332MB 24ms non-removable disk for $6000 (marketprices of faster SCSI harddisks are about $2000). If you have experience with either hooking up non-DEC harddisks or optical floppies, please let me (and other readers here) know the specifics. Does one need special drivers? Software knowledge? Hardware knowledge? Can you recommend specific (optical) drives? ivo phd_ivo@gsbacd.uchicago.edu
