I recently tried to do this, and I couldn't even get the latest device drivers to work!! The project was cancelled because Precision Visuals wanted too much money to upgrade our VAX UNIX license to the Encore ($16,000 even including credits for our VAX license and a 50% government discount!). If we wanted to also add PicSure, Textpro and Sun and postscript Device drivers we would also have had to pony up an additional 16 grand. DI-3000 is mucho expensive! My recommendation is that you try something like NCAR. It is MUCH cheaper than DI-3000 ($1500 educational price), and, I think, a better package. I am in the middle of installing NCAR Graphics v2.01 right now, and the only problems I am having are caused by a bug in Encore's loader (fixed in UMAX 4.3 I'm told :-). I am testing a work-around right now and hope to have the package up sometime next week.
