I thought I'd post this instead of mailing since it may be of interest to
others.  

I have recently come across a BBS that deals almost exculsively with software
for kids.  It is called Discovery Place and the BBS number is (312)-383-6335.
It is free (but donations and contributions are welcome) and has software 
organized by age groups ( <5, 5-8, 8-10 etc.).
