It's just a big pain to have your disk crashing every month, > if you know what I mean. The trouble is, there seem to be bad runs of disks; retail sellers package 'generic' drives made by the names you've heard about, and certain production runs of each manufacturer seem to have trouble, looking over the history of the last couple of years. As an example, the Rodime drive (fine Scots quality) in my MacBottom bellied up 3 times. Each time, replaced with new Rodime. The last time, PCPC apologetically put in a Seagate. 0 problems with that. And I know Seagates of other vintagehave bad rep in the same way. I think your last comment is the important one. Both LaCie and PCPC seem to be very good about their warranties, and nice. This is good service, with products that current mfg. tech. can't seem always to get right. Clive Steward
