What I meant to get across is that different types of applications have different data models and are useful for different things. Word processors are great for vast quantities of linear text, databases are great for record/field stuff, etc. HyperCard is not a word processor or a database, although it does have elements of each of these standard applications. HyperCard IS a hypertext application: something new. All I wanted people to understand is that this model is fundamentally different than a word processing or database model. Therefore the data is to be treated differently. Now that doesn't mean we don't want to continue to improve HyperCard in any way. We are improving HyperCard dramatically. Technical problems can and are being overcome. As far as SuperCard goes, I really have no comment since I have not even seen it. If SuperCard is better, then I encourage everyone to go out and buy it and use it and dump HyperCard. Fine. But I understand that although it may have the look of HyperCard, it does not have the feel or performance. Before everyone gives up on HyperCard, just do two things for me: a) use SuperCard, and b) use HyperCard 2.0 when it is released later this year. All I ask is a fair comparison. In the meantime, continue to send those cards and letters of suggestions and improvements. I think you'll like 2.0.
