With DECwindows. Several other > local sites have rec'd theirs also. I've been discussing things with my DECsalesperson for a while. Our software contracts showed up with a copy of VWS for our ultrix machine (real useful there), and said person tried to tell me that UWS and VWS were the same, and I could take my VMS VWS tape and use it on my Ultrix machine. The Ultrix 3.0 docs say that DECwindows was the standard workstation software for Ultrix 3.0, so I called up and asked when we'd get DECwindows for Ultrix. Blank stare. I've also seen claims that UWS 2.0 is/will be DECwindows, which my salesperson staunchly denies. Thursday I read off order numbers for the DECwindows documentation that I got from a DEC internal sales bulletin, and she said they weren't available and that DECwindows would ship April/May. I had to find out for myself that DECwindows was going to just be part of VMS 5.1. Friday two, count 'em, *two* copies of VMS 5.1 with "DECwindows" written all over them showed up. Aside from the relase notes, there's a "5.1 New Features" book (no binder) and a "Using DECwindows" book (binder) that lists on the spine: @b(Using DECwindows) Overview of VMS DECwindows DECwindows User's Guide Desktop Applications Now I suspect we'll have to go and order (read: pay extra for) the rest of the documentation. I'll also have to get more memory for our mvII. -- @disclaimer(Any concepts or opinions above are entirely mine, not those of my employer, my GIGI, my VT05, or my 11/34) beak is@>beak is not Anthony A.
