I started my Emacs, then started an RMAIL and a GNUS. I read some ? GNUS, then switched to the RMAIL buffer. I read my mail, and decided ? I wanted to modify some of it, so I intended to type C-x w (widen) and ? C-x C-q (toggle read-only). Instead, I typed C-x C-w (write file). ? When I saw my error, I typed control G. Not realising exactly what ? was going on, I continued. Here's the transcript: No need to C-x w C-x C-q. If you only want to modify a message, not the cached header or the Babel stuff, `w' runs `rmail-edit-current-message'. You exit normally with C-c C-c, or abort with C-c C-].
