I noticed sun's make has a default TARGET_ARCH in COMPILE.c, so to make foo.o, it becomes cc -sun386 -c foo.c when -sun386 is a target flag for Sun C compilers/cross compilers. Setting CC to gcc gives: gcc -sun386 -c foo.c gcc seems to eat the -sun386 gracefully. Should it? It seems to work fine. marty ARPA: leisner.henr@xerox.com GV: leisner.henr NS: martin leisner:wbst139:xerox UUCP: hplabs!arisia!leisner
