You generally have to install the streamer on one of the workstations of the LAN and log as SUPERVISOR. I have personnally used a MOUNTAIN tape streamer and it came with the software and documentation needed to backup a Novell network. It was rather simple to use. You can backup the server while the network is up and running. Any file that cannot be locked during the process (because it is used by a client workstation) is listed in a special file and you can ask the software to try again saving these files later on.
