Andrew's Messages program implements an acknowledgement-requested feature.  You
have to answer a dialog box to send the acknowledgement; you're prompted for it
only once, the first time you read a message that requests it.

Nathaniel Borenstein has a draft RFC describing the headers and values, if
you're interested.
