Lines: 28 I'm running CMU/MIT pcip on a 3com 3c501 and on a wd8003. Netwatch works fine with the 3com but I have troubles with the wd8003 card. Whenever I run netwatch it starts up just like on the 3com but after displaying a (random) number of packets, it starts getting hickups: it now and then stops for a second or two and then displays another bunch of packets. When I run both both machines simultaneous I can see that the wd8003 loses a lot of packets. Does anybody know about this problem and could give me some help ? Im am also interrested in some explaining about the modes you can put the 8390 RX control register in. I understand you can use 6 modes: 0x01 save error pkts 0x02 accept runt pkts 0x04 accept broadcasts 0x08 accept multicast 0x10 promicuous mode 0x20 monitor mode The modes I cannot figure out are the save error pkts an the monitor mode could someone explain them to me. werner (werner@nikhefk).
