The idea is to use the information already available on the ethernet before generating packets such as ICMP requests (ping). This would undoubtedly save precious bandwidth. If anyone know of any public domain or commercial software or instruct me on writing a device driver, please send e-mail to ken@mcnc.org. This is to run on VAXstation II/GPX running 4.3-Tahoe.
