Lines: 61 In answer to the questions on Mandelbrot Sets, Fractals etc::::: Peitgen has two books with coauthors. Both are large size, lots of beatiful, color and B&W pictures. I don't remember seeing any algorithms in either book. If you are interested in this field there are other books on fractals and other related topics. Many of these topics are related or are different names for the same thing: Chaos Theory, Dynamical System Theory, Complex systems Theory, Iterated Function Theory, Iterated Maps, Strange Attractors, Cellular Automata, Fractals, Fractional Dimension, Cantor Dust and in these fields one finds names like Mandlebrot, Julia,Sarkovskii, Gaston, Feigenbaum, Poincare, Lorentz, Sierpinski, Cantor and references to things like Logistics Map, Iterated Liapanov Exponents, Fractal Dimensions, Hausdorff Dimension, Period Doubling, Limit Cycles, Butterfly Effect, sensitivity to initial conditions The above topics and thinggies can be found in these books--among others: Chaos, H. Gleick A layman's view of some "bizzare" things like fractals, dynamical system theory, iterated function theory, etc Exploring The Geometry of Nature, E. Rietman Similar topics as above with some Basic code Fractals Everywhere, Michael Barnsley Highly mathematical text on Iterated Function Systems The Mathematical Tourist, Ivars Peterson A highly readable book along lines of Gleick's book. Cellular Automata Machines, Toffoli and Margolus A book on things like "The Game of Life" The Science of Fractal Images, Barnsley, Devaney, Mandelbrot, Peitgen,Saupe, Voss.....There are some algorithms in the Appendix...mostly mathematics and pictures. I think this should be enough to give anyone interested in this field a nice start .... 8-)... regards mark -- ___---___---___---___---___---___---___---___---___--- H.M.
