SHANER SUBJECT: HIGH DENSITY DISK DRIVES (1.2 MEG & 1.44 MEG) I am surprised not to have noticed a clarification of the problem in using high density disk drives on Amigas. (Excuse me if this has in fact been noted) In addition to the differences in actual media, the drives have faster rotational speeds. These can be overcome, but the fact that high density drives require a controller capable of 500kbit data transfers is perhaps the biggest problem. I see no major problem designing an add-on controller that would provide similar features to the WD1002a-FOX (An I*M contoller which allows use of high density drives in an XT) I would assume this would also limit the use of the MACK high density drives, which are based on similar technology. Please correct me if I've munged a few of the details. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Leon D.
