config: DN3500, SR10.1, BSD4.3

I log in to the node.  (first DM window is 35x80)
I type vt100, it hangs.
I type ^C, and it goes away.
I type vt100 again, ... and it WORKS!!!!
I can reproduce this every single @#$$^%^&& time I log in.

What I don't understand is that this started happening recently, about
two weeks ago.  I haven't been able to figure out why it doesn't continue
the first time, has anyone seen this one and if so do you know of a fix?
