I created a .exrc file in my home directory. All it does is sets autoindent and tabstops to 4. If I run vi in my home directory it works fine but if I move to another directory autoindent and tabstops don't get set. Is this a feature or a bug? According to the man pages vi uses ~/.exrc NOT .exrc. I have rwx for everybody on the file so even though that should not be a problem I did eliminate the possiblity. Thanks in advance.
