Some time ago, someone (precise is my middle name) maybe Chris Torek pointed out that deleting one character from a set of characters in the mail source and recompiling fixed that. I believe that was fixed in 4.3 (sr10), though. My only guess for the stuff getting munged in your mailbox is conncurrently running mail delivery programs writing into your mailbox at the same time. That would happen, I believe, if the processes were on the same node (and the mailbox file could be on any node). I think. Especially if the files were large, it seems like the probability of overlap would be greater. --paul
