This net absorbs all the free time I have for "BBSing" (and then some); paying for either Compuserve or Genie wouldn't be economically rational (and I'd guess that's true for the majority of readers of this list). Your BBS is long distance whereas APPLE2-L is a local call (for just about everyone). I could have started a download at 9:15p this evening and simply watched what turned out to be a terrific basketball game while my modem did it's thing). Even if the file is large, the cost of downloading via a local call to a system that doesn't charge real $$$ during the evening is attractive :-) Murph Sewall Vaporware? ---> [Gary Larson returns 1/1/90] Prof. of Marketing Sewall@UConnVM.BITNET Business School sewall%uconnvm.bitnet@mitvma.mit.edu [INTERNET] U of Connecticut {psuvax1 or mcvax }!UCONNVM.BITNET!SEWALL [UUCP] -+- I don't speak for my employer, though I frequently wish that I could (subject to change without notice; void where prohibited) According to the American Facsimile Association, more than half the calls from Japan to the U.S. are fax calls.
