These are capable of 1:1 interleave.... Early releases of the 296N had Rom7's (keep it if you have one !) and can be formatted 1:1. When the old Rom7 stock ran out, Seagate started shipping Rom8's, but apparently never checked to see if the drives worked ! I'd like to hear from those who can contradict these discoveries....
