HD for Toshiba 1200- new or built from existing HD Keywords: hard disk, external, Toshiba Message-ID: <22553@agate.BERKELEY.EDU> Date: 3 Apr 89 20:09:13 GMT Sender: usenet@agate.BERKELEY.EDU Organization: University of California, Berkeley Lines: 22 I need information about getting or building an external hard disk for a Toshiba laptop. I currently have a Toshiba 1200 F with 2 floppies, as it has a longer battery life (which is crucial to my application). I have an XT with a Seagate 251 40 meg that I would like to salvage or use if possible. Two questions: 1) Does anyone know how, or can point me to a reference that explains, how to build an external disk enclosure for a PC's hard disk (including I presume a controller and power supply)? 2) Are there inexpensive drives like this already available (i.e. less than $600-800 or so for 40 megs)? I already know about Toshiba's options (expansion, internal drive, etc.) but they are either too expensive or don't meet my needs. ANY help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
