And, if you ask about policies, MMC members (probably) have to tell you what they are, and then abide by them. But the policies can be anything they want. This is my impression because I've been looking at lots of mail-order company ads lately, lots of which have the MMC label, and a lot of them have, for example, a policy of no returns. One, in fact, has a policy of NO RETURNS, even if the hardware you order is dead on arrival. In that case, they'll "help" you by giving you the manufacturer's address so you can contact them about your factory warranty. I called them (on their 800 number, so they paid) to verify this, it sounded so unbelieveable. This mail-order company displays the MMC logo, and this restriction IS mentioned in the ad (in the small print). All I can suggest for you in the future is to read a lot of ads and make up a list of all possible restrictions, then call your potential vendor and ask about all of them. Because if you don't ask, they won't tell you. (Examples: Credit card surcharge, normal shipping and handling cost, additional shipping cost for particular shipping methods, when is the credit card billed, is the item in stock, when will it be shipped, are returns accepted if the product is unopened, if the product is opened but was DOA, if the product is opened but doesn't work totally, is there a cost charged for returning an item, is the refund cash or store credit?) -- Dave ---------------------------------------------------------- Dave Bakin (408) 496-3600 c/o Rational; 3320 Scott Blvd.; Santa Clara, CA 95054-3197 Internet: dsb@rational.com Uucp: ...!uunet!igor!dsb
