A much, much safer way to hear this melody is to get hold of a copy
of the Diagnostic Sound Sampler application.  This was distributed
by comp.binaries.mac just a few days ago, and should still be 
available at most sites.

This program plays the several tones, chords, and sequences that the
Mac might play during a failed startup.  The memory error sound is a
rising series of notes.

The odds of this program frying your machine are negligible.
