As a test, I converted an 80-page Word doc to see how well it worked, and what blew me away was the incredible speed at which it opened the file. Needless to say, the formatting was perfectly intact. I'm hoping to finish a longish discussion of Nisus for the next issue of the BMUG Newsletter, and I expect the review will mostly complimentary. Nisus does lack a few things, but for people looking for some of the power of UNIX character-based editors which heretofore has been missing from Mac word-processing programs, Nisus has a lot to offer.
