For those of us who are into assembling their own hard disks, and particular
for people who have bought into the recent sell-out of Newbury drives ...

...I created an email-discussion group mailable as:

		NEWBURY@RASCAL.ICS.UTEXAS.EDU

which you can join by sending a request to:

		NEWBURY-REQUEST@RASCAL.ICS.UTEXAS.EDU

a reasonable amount of hardware and software knowledge is expected.
we will not be able to instruct complete novices in how to get a
hard disk built cheaple - I would consider this a disservice anyway,
because I do not think novices can do that safely and not run into
insurmountable problems with hardware and/or software sooner or later.

recent topics were: sources of enclosures, power supply specs, formatting
and driver software ...
