Foo comes from FUBAR, which in turn stands for, er, _fouled_ up beyond all
recognition. (This is a family net, right? :-)). Foo has long been a favorite
for variables, file names, etc. Related to FUBAR, by the way, is SNAFU,
which is Situation Normal, All Fouled (wink wink) Up. These come from
various branches of the military, but I don't remember which.
