Subject: Help! Virus infected my SE20!

My friend's SE has been infected with a virus.  He used Virus
Detective version 1.1 to discover this.  Apparently, his system
finder, and several applications are infected.  What is the best
way to eradicate the virus without erasing the hard disk?  
After eradication, is there another way he can verify all the 
virii are removed?  Is there a way to check if other files, not
listed by Virus Detective are infected?  Any information you feel
will be of help will be appreciated.  Please respond to me, since
I'm sure the net has had enough of these type of problems discussed.
