Can the serial ports be used for synchronous communications under
program control?  I seem to remember that the hardware was capable,
but I haven't seen (or don't know how to use) existing software drivers
that do the job.

We want to use a Mac for synchronous communications through one of the
serial ports.  Does anyone have a driver for synchronous communications,
or where can we go to get enough information to write our own driver?
Is the source code for the Ram Serial driver available?
