UNIX to Mac help....

I'm planning to port some software from BSD UNIX to the Mac.
Specifically, the project includes: an exception handler,
communications package, and host file utilities.

If anyone knows of any material/publications on UNIX->Mac
issues, that might make my life easier I'd appreciate it.
