It's my understanding that SUNOS Telnet does not support binary mode. (We had a similar problem - we traced the session, and saw that the Sun telnet was refusing binary mode). Sun says that this is because BSD Unix doesn't support it, and that code is unchanged BSD code. They say they plan to get in the code and fix this "real soon now". By the way, we also noticed that telnet doesn't terminate xmitted lines right.
