The same goes with things as diverse as VCRs, multiport serial port boards for PCs, traffic light controllers and a whole host of other stuff. I've seen several times in print the statement that the Z80 is still the single most widely used cpu out there. It's powerful, stable and dirt cheap; to a designer these are all very endearing qualities. :-)
