Herbert) The general tactic is to leave some large portion of your force (half) in a overwatch position where they can react to anything fired at the moving half while you are moving on the offensive. Using combined arms and aircraft: Helicopters, Infantry etc: you just keep some back where they can see and react Aircraft: don't really work well with this kind of requirement.
