I've several friends who were with the WWII 10th, and in fact have a pin (the only pin) on my ski cap for them. The Association meets every few years. A local group meets in Grass Valley. Every so often I see a 10th decal on a car or a mobile home. Their numbers include some of the most prominent men in the American scene besides Dole (no relation to M. Dole who started the Ski Patrol): like Dave Brower of the Sierra Club, Morley Nelson of Audubon, etc. The 10th was the last Division sent to Europe, so I am told. There are at least two books on them, I have neither, saw one in Aspen. Public TV in Denver did a documentary on them. I know this documentary is available (it emphasizes the skiing more than the climbing). They also had some sad times in the North. I think it was on Atul that friendly fire in the fog caused numerous casualities on an island without any enemy (several companies of dead and wounded). A real tragedy of war which they want to forget. They are otherwise a close knit group. FAEs: Fuel Air Explosives were basically developed as anti-armor weapons post-Vietnam. I am surprised no one brought that out. But I supposed any weapon in a pinch. Looks like Ft. Ord isn't on any net.
