It seems to me that the most likely event would be for them to "announce" themselves to the world at large. If they are as intelligent as the netters are giving them credit for, they would know the political implications of landing at any one place. And if they are not friendly? Seems to me a few select tac nukes (or similar things) would be enough to make the Earth quite dead. Think what would happen if 5-10 American (or Russian) cities went up into a mushroom cloud. Anyone think that we (or the Russians) would believe it's spacers dropping these nukes?
