There are a number of Hayes clones which cannot talk to my Telebit without setting this register to a higher value than the default, since they attempt to lock to the "PEP" tones & get confused. The object is to make the calling modem wait longer before deciding it has a valid carrier. "ATS9=12S10=15" or similar seems to do the trick. |- Steve.
