I posted something a few weeks ago about `picture format madness'--- you know, there's TIFF and GIF and NFF and X bitmap and CGM and this and that... and I'm totally confused. Other people obviously are too, judging from the number of `me too!' messages I've had, and the support that's appeared on the net. Just now, I'm not so much interested in conversion between formats (maybe later!), but I want to discover what they all ARE, and what they're FOR! So I'll try and compile a list. Will you help me? Just drop me a short note saying, `have you heard of xxxx? This is what it's for, and here's a brief description, or at least a pointer to one. Maybe here's where there are some archives, or something'. BUT IF SOMEONE'S ALREADY DONE THIS PLEASE STOP ME ! Thanks. I'm sure this will be useful.
