You can get the screen fonts (no printer fonts of course) for many Adobe packages via anonymous ftp from sumex.stanford.edu -- I think they have Sonata, but I don't remember either yes or no. MacConnection sells Adobe fonts, and you should be able to get Sonata for well under $100 -- get a friend to join you or persuade your department to get it for your printer.
