I am a relatively experienced Prolog user, (I work on implementations of NL systems written in Prolog) but I have never worked on implementations of Prolog itself, or read much about that aspect of Prolog. Consequently, I do not have much of an idea of what this discussion is all about, but would like to find out more. If some kind soul would be willing to provide some background, or, better yet, give some references to papers/books discussing this general area, I would greatly appreciate the enlightenment.
