Keywords: software reuse, inheritance Message-ID: <8012@june.cs.washington.edu> Date: 27 Apr 89 00:01:28 GMT Organization: U of Washington, Computer Science, Seattle Lines: 34 I am doing some work in quantifying the use of inheritance as a technique for software reuse, that is, I am measuring how things such as classes and methods actually get used and reused. To make more sense out of my measurements, I need some *real data*, that is, I need to get hold of large applications written in Smalltalk. The large applications I have already gotten hold of are: (a) the Smalltalk system itself, (b) Alan Borning's ThingLab, and (c) Rob Duisberg's Animus. Does anybody know of any other public domain Smalltalk application that I could use? Or does anyone have any major applications that they could release for me to measure reuse in? I would appreciate getting pointers to such software. Yes, I'll collect and post a summary of the relevant public domain software. If anyone has already done such measurements or is in the process of doing them, I would also like to hear from them. When I get done with my measurements and finish my paper, I'll mail copies of it to those of you who may be interested in it. Thanks. - R. K.
