     I am having an awful time getting VLT to start up with a decent font.
No matter what I try I always get the same font whose character spacing causes
one character to overlap the next.  I can get a decent font by changing the 
number of lines setting to 40 and then back again to 24.  I don't know why.
Anyone got any insights into my difficulties?
