Four years ago at the Developers Conference in Monterey, many of you had your initial opportunity to learn about the inner workings of the Amiga, that marvelous new computer. Since that time, both the hardware and software have evolved to be more sophisticated, more powerful and more enticing. Subsequent Developers Conferences have given you the opportunity to continue to learn about these changes from the people responsible for them. The 1989 North American Developers Conference is another chance to do just that. As we move into Amiga's fifth year we know there is more yet to do to realize all the dreams first shared in Monterey. Devcon, and its focus on Version 1.4 of the Amiga Operating system, is the next step on the way. This year's conference is being held at the Holiday Inn Golden Gateway in central San Francisco. Conveniently located for access to all this great city's attractions, the Holiday Inn provides us with the best of facilities in an informal setting to host a highly productive conference. Conference Sessions Following the plan used in Washington, D.C. during the 1988 conference, we will be running concurrent sessions: software development, hardware compatibility and marketing/business. General interest sessions will not be concurrent, and will be scheduled as group sessions. Some of the topics being planned include: Technical ========= * Overview of V1.4 * Exec * DOS V1.4 * Incompatibility Risks in V1.4 * New Intuition Features * ECS and Graphics Library * International Compatibility and Proper Programming Practices * Commodities Exchange * Writing AMIX Device \sDrivers * Amiga graphics and AMIX * Authoring Systems * Programming the High \sResolution Card * Application Support Library * Janus 2.0 * Hardware Compatibility * DMA and others Non-Technical ============= * Public and Press Relations * How to Design Effective Print Advertising * Sales Opportunities in Commodore's Designated Markets * Update on Commodore's Marketing Plans * Advertising Clinic * Outside Funding for Small Businesses * Effective Documentation * Penetrating the European Market * The Ins and Outs of Export * Legal Protection for Software and others. "Quickstart" Sessions For those of you new to Amiga development, we will be running special introductory sessions on Wednesday, June 14th.
