Yikes!" I'm probably the last guy who knows about retail prices, but I'm sure you can get these for under $4000, at least. > "Hi, I'd like to order a 2500" > But I like my 1000!!! I like kickstart, I a morbid sort of way. > Any ideas???? With an MMU, you can get many of the features of KickStart, plus more, if you're willing to burn a chunk of your memory for this. I have a program called "SetCPU", freely redistributable, which currently lets you spend about 260K of 32 bit memory to speed up your system by making the ROM kernel run in this 32 bit memory. I'm currently testing a version that does this in a slightly more sophisticated way, and also speeds up a few more things, like hard disk performance with a 2090A. It's theoretically possible to actually start up with a KickStart disk or something similar, using the same MMU techniques, though it's something I haven't pursued. > - a bemused Blair -- Dave Haynie "The 32 Bit Guy" Commodore-Amiga "The Crew That Never Rests" {uunet|pyramid|rutgers}!cbmvax!daveh PLINK: D-DAVE H BIX: hazy Amiga -- It's not just a job, it's an obsession
