(F.Y.I. - I have an 800XL and hope to get an ICD MIO soon.)

I saw an ad in "Computer Shopper" which raised a couple of questions:

1) Adaptek 3530 - SCSI to Tape OIC 36 ($78)
	What is "Tape OIC 36" used for?  Does this mean that I can do
	tape back-up if I buy one of these and an ICD MIO?  What devices
	use "Tape OIC 36" interfaces?
	
2) Adaptek 4000, 4000A, and 5500 - SCSI to ST506/412 ($89, $129, & $125)
	Are there any differences between these three controllers?
	Please provide details if possible.
	
3) Adaptek 5580 - SCSI to SMD ($175)
	What does SMD stand for?  What devices use SMD interfaces?
