  I am looking to buy a hard drive but would like to have one that I can use as
a monitor stand.  The only people I know with ST's tell me that the drive can 
only have a 18 inch. (approx.) long cable or you will run into transfer rate 
problems.  Can any one out there tell me if this is true and if so if there is
a way around the problem.
