My only dealings with Joppa was an attempt at getting a 520 ST repaired. I sent off my computer, with $65, in hopes that I would quickly get my machine back in a working state. Well, within a week of shipping, the Joppa repairman called me and said he had fixed it. He explained what the problem was, told me how much the repair costs, and said he would get it back to the store the next day. "Great!", I thought. Well, it took another 2 1/2 weeks for my machine to arrive at home. Why it took 2 1/2 weeks to ship my machine, I don't know. But that's not the kicker. Joppa sent my computer back, in the box that I had shipped it in, the original box, but they left out the styrafoam endpieces. So, despite the fact that they had packed it in a larger box, my computer was sliding around inside its smaller box. Needless to say, my computer acted just as it had before I sent it off to be repaired. So, I had already paid $65 for repairs and $6.50 in shipping. I called Joppa, and the repairman said, "Sure, send it back and I'll fix it again free." Free my ass! They insisted that I would have to pay for shipping both ways for the second repair. It would take an extreme moron to send out a computer without proper packing, but they compounded the problem by not even accepting responsibility by paying for the next round of shipping. I decided that I wasn't going to risk another $6.50, and wait almost a month to see if Joppa had learned how to pack computers for shipping yet. I sent my computer to Atari, and had it replaced. This took less time than sending it to Joppa, and the new computer came back properly packed for shipping, and it even works! Thank you Atari. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- sl161011@silver.UUCP Kevin Clendenien --------------------------------------------------------------------------
